  • Developing guidance for a UN organisation on integrating human rights into the environmental oversight of the mining sector
  • Developing guidance on biodiversity and human rights

In relation to responsible business conduct

  • Developing guidance for several international organisations on the corporate responsibility to respect human rights and due diligence
  • Working with the OECD on guidance on due diligence under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises
  • Understanding and using different tools, leverage points, and approaches for integrating responsible business conduct into the lifeblood of international commerce and finance
  • Contributing to several National Action Plans (NAPs) on Business and Human Rights
  • Contributing to work at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the EU Fundamental Rights Agency on access to remedies for adverse human rights impacts by business

In relation to conflict, peace and security

  • Collaborating to develop a new model for involving the private sector in transitional justice programmes, with a focus on Colombia
  • Writing on private sector operations in high risk and conflict affected areas

In relation to the extractive sector

  • Extensive publications on the extractive sector and human rights
  • Observer member of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (for IHRB)

In relation to the financial sector

  • Writing about maturing, using and measuring ESG (environment-social-governance) factors in the financial sector, with a particular focus on the “S” factor
  • Publication for investors on business and human rights
  • Researching and writing about the role of human rights in global financial regulation

In relation to measuring and evaluating human rights impacts

  • Developing a methodology to examine human rights impact at a sectoral level – sector wide impact assessments
  • Cooperating in developing a methodology to benchmark corporate human rights performance
  • Deepening methodologies around human rights impact assessments

  • Analysing the implications of "soft law" and "hard law” and the trajectory of ideas moving from soft to hard for business and government
